Admission to Post-Graduate (PG) Programmes for Session 2011-13, University of Burdwan

The University of Burdwan (Also known as Burdwan University) is a teaching and affiliating public university, established by the Government of West Bengal on 15th of June, 1960, located in Bardhaman, West Bengal, India. The University of Burdwan has its territorial jurisdiction extends over five districts – Burdwan, Hooghly (excluding Serampore Subdivision), Bankura, Birbhum and Purulia and currently the university has about 150 plus affiliated colleges under its roof.

Admission to PG Programmes for the Session 2011-13

Burdwan University inviting applications for admission to the Post-Graduate Courses in Bengali, Sanskrit, History, Economics, Hindi, Sociology, Philosophy, Santali, English, and Political Science, for the session 2011-13.

Courses will be conducted at Burdwan University Campus (both normal shift and additional shift), Burdwan Raj College, M.U.C. Women’s College, Hooghly Mohsin College, Bankura Christian College, Chandernagore Govt. College, Netaji Mahavidyalaya, Pandit Raghunath Murmu Smriti Mahavidyalaya.

Details of admission notification is as follows:

Course Post-Graduate Courses in Bengali, Sanskrit, History, Economics, Hindi, Sociology, Philosophy, Santali, English, and Political Science
Course Duration 2 years
Eligibility Honours/Special Honours Graduates of any recognized University, who have done the three- year Honours Course, are eligible to apply.
Reservation As per Govt. rules.
Issue and Submission of Application Form From 22.07.2011 to 12.08.2011.

Eligible candidates can apply in prescribed forms obtainable at the Sales Counter at Rajbati, (and not by post) on payment of Rs. 100/- in cash, between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on all working days (except Saturdays, Sundays and University Holidays).

Candidates obtaining the form from the website, http://www.buruniv.ac.in must enclose a demand draft of Rs. 100/- drawn in favour of “Finance Officer, The University of Burdwan” payable at SBI, Burdwan at the time of submitting the same.

Note: One additional seat in the subject Bengali will be filled-up by the student domiciled in other states as per admission norms of the University. Applicants claiming as such must also enclose a domicile certificate issued in his/her favour by the appropriate authority with the application form for admission.
